Gotabgaa Australia (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website, register as a member, book events, enrol in social welfare, apply for interim leadership, or contact us.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), as far as they apply to our association. This page is a community summary — not legal advice.
Information we collect
- Contact form: name, email, subject, and message.
- Membership registration: name, email, phone, address, date of birth, state/territory, membership type, notes you provide, and a membership ID once approved.
- Member login: email address and a password you choose. Passwords are stored by our authentication provider, not in plain text on this website.
- Event bookings: attendee details, event selected, and payment status/reference if a fee applies.
- Social welfare: enrolment details, package chosen, household information you submit, and reimbursement requests (which may include sensitive information such as bereavement circumstances). We treat welfare records as confidential.
- Leadership EOI: application answers, contact details, and supporting information you submit for interim leadership positions.
- Payments: amount, unique payment reference, and whether a registration has been marked paid. We do not collect your full banking password. PayID/BSB details shown to you are our association’s receiving details.
- Website use: basic hosting and analytics data such as pages visited and approximate location, used to keep the site working.
We do not sell personal information.
How we use your information
We use personal information to run the association: respond to enquiries, process membership and event bookings, confirm payments, administer welfare support, review leadership expressions of interest, send account emails (such as approval or password setup), and keep reasonable community records.
Third-party services
We use trusted providers to host the site and store records (including Vercel and Supabase) and to send transactional email (such as Resend). Social media links go to external platforms with their own privacy policies. We only share information with these providers as needed to operate the website and association.
Data retention
We keep membership, booking, welfare, EOI, and contact records for as long as needed to administer the association, meet financial record-keeping, and handle genuine follow-up — then delete or de-identify them when they are no longer required.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold about you by emailing info@gotabgaaaustralia.org. Some records (for example payment or welfare decisions) may need to be kept for a period for accountability.
